The Sign Sense Community Pro project aims to equip healthcare students with the skills to effectively communicate with clients and communities of people with speech and hearing impairments. By teaching Tanzania Sign Language, we empower future health professionals to provide better, more inclusive, and patient-centered care that meets the specific needs of individuals with communication challenges. Currently, 64 healthcare students are enrolled in our Sign Language Masterclass, where they receive both theoretical training and practical experience through field outreaches. This hands-on approach ensures that students can connect meaningfully with patients, improving healthcare outcomes for those with speech and hearing impairments. Impact and Results The program enhances the ability of healthcare professionals to communicate with and serve a broader range of patients. By creating a more inclusive healthcare environment, we are paving the way for better, more equitable care for all.
